Numerological Identity

In today’s world, a person’s identity has been reduced to numbers. If I talk about myself, in class I am Roll No. 97, the hostel in-charge knows me as a resident of Room no. 312, for the people who wants to contact me, I am identified by a phone no. If I go to any government office, I am either known by my PAN, Driving licence no. or account number. While travelling, I am a passenger who is known by PNR no. If we track our conversation, where-ever we go, we are asked at-least one number like “What is your account no., Ma’am”, “What was the cheque no. that you deposited”, “Can you send me your phone no.”, “Do mention your roll no.”, “What is your laptop’s serial no.?”, “Your house no.?”….. and more numbers.

It is strange but that’s the best way to track people. But at times, it seems that we lack that special recognition and are just a part of crowd. May be this is why the people close to us, our family, loved ones and friends become so valuable to us. No matter where you are, you remain special to them. For them, my voice, my face, my silence, my smile or just my name is enough. I wish I have more and more valuable relationships where “I” am known without the help of any NUMBER.

Random Thoughts

I have realized offlate that I am a romantic person at heart. Some days back I thought that why not pen down various random love thoughts that come to my mind during my day dreaming sessions. Below are the few ones. The list shall be updated with time.

  • I wish it was night again, as it is in my dreams that I find myself close to you. I feel protected in your arms and no one else matters
  • The best word in this world is your name, the best view is to see you smiling, best knowledge is to know that your smile is for me and best feeling is your presence
  • You are a reason for me to be a better person because in your love, I continuously strive to improve myself
  • I smile, thinking that you might be looking at me and I love myself more when I find you looking at me
  • Restlessness has become a part of life because no matter you are there or not, I am not at ease
  • I had never known what love is and I cant define it too, but I can say that, for me you are love personified
  • I become silent when you call my name, only to re-hear your voice as an echo
  • You complete me

P.S: Any resemblance to any person / thing / incident is purely coincidental.

Management Course OR Mis-Managed Course

MBA degree is one of the most sought after degree these days. And when we ask the important question -WHY?? we get answers such as it teaches management of operations, finances, human resource, sales etc of an organization (apart from the primary answer of handsome pays) . But the irony is that course which expected to teach management is itself mismanaged.

Sleeping in classes, spending zillion man hours for a few hours’ event, plagiarism, inadequate teaching infrastructure, cheating in exams, outdated teaching pedagogy and the list goes on and on. The issues are both from the management side as well as the students’ side. Students have developed the habit of calling meetings for anything and everything without realizing the importance of conducting a meeting. Only few of the expected attendees would turn up for meeting and even fewer on time. The sad part is that even after passing out, these habits would stay in their work-life. If getting late to the classes is allowed, then they will never try to be on time to work. Meetings would never be taken seriously unless something major is at stake. They will try to find an easy way out (as they have been used to cheating), rather than the best way and even for the concepts taught in class, they will end up googling.

Is only management at fault? Not fully. Apart from them, the students are also at fault. The seniors proudly pass over the trend to the next batch, who in majority of cases does not think before repeating the mistakes. It should be understand that “Only change is constant” and hence keep on improving the system so that students end up making the most out of this course.

Then what’s the solution: I won’t give recommendations here as a consultant but would just say that effort is required from institute, teachers and students. Students are at the loosing end because of these inefficiencies. Even “Cheating” is against their well-being. People who don’t cheat end up loosing more and hence, sooner or later, they too enter the world of cheating. I have witnessed such a case where one of my friend who gave up cheating later on realized that he was loosing too much and hence to maintain the grade, he was again sharing answers in the examination hall. And when all students start cheating, then they all are once again at par. Or should I say, no benefit in relative terms.
Till the time efforts are put in to remove these inefficiencies, I don’t think the cost in terms of time, money and effort would match the benefit realized from such a course.
